    C3325

    Hi Guys

I have a customer, an apartment building, that makes copies of all the checks that come in, in b/w. The will put 5 or 6 on the glass and slightly reduce to fit on LTR. Randomly 1 or 2 checks on a page will come out with all white bands, I guess scan lines. Not the whole page, just a check or two, and it's random. I would have gotten samples but I can understand when a customer doesn't want copies of checks leaving the building. All copies and printing are fine. I was wondering if it may be a security issue and if there's any setting that could be turned off. They have been making their copies on an old IR2230 b/w when they do their checks to avoid problems. Thanks for any help.

The newer model devices have that security feature to prevent counterfeiting documents. Most banks put a seal or hologram on their checks for that reason. There is no way to disable it.

        he had B&W copy..

no security issue there IF TRUE mono copy and slight reduce would negate ANY security on B&W or COLOR

correct me if I am wrong.. all gov't docs have a touch of color...

making copy in mono shouldn't matter

I thought that usually was the work around but I read where banks are adding foil seals and eurion dots to checks. Maybe they can just cover them up. I could be mistaken.

I'll check. The problem is it has never happened on anything but checks and I thought the b/w would negate any security but maybe not. They can copy checks on the old IR2230 without a problem but that has no color capability.

So here's the sample. To correct myself a little, when it happens which is random and has only happened with copying checksExc.pdf, the whole page will be bad. Customer copies their own checks, tenant checks, personal checks etc and it doesn't happen with any particular kind of check. Even their own checks will copy fine then all of a sudden 1 bad page. Couldn't find anything on the knowledgebase or in the manual that could direct me in any one direction. Wondering if I have a black drum problem that coincidentally has only happened so far when copying checks. Note-customer is not connected to print, copy only

Could be drum.. more likely transfer roller in ITB not moving smoothly/lifting. Suggest pull ITB clean and inspect..sometimes it's toner clogging movement of roller.

The sample is a scanned image of a copy that they are getting occasionally when copying checks. The originals are the checks. Checks have bank information that I can't share
