    Fax Confirmation Emails on Canon iR-ADV 4551i

    We are having trouble getting a CanoniR-ADV 4551i to send fax confirmation emails when users fax from their desktop computers. The faxing is working but the confirmation emails fail with error code 806. We have scan to email working on the machine already, I thought that would take care of the email config for the fax confirmations but apparently we are missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Settings/Registration > Function Settings > Send > Fax Settings > Fax TX Report
      Select [For Error Only], [On], or [Off].



      #806 - An incorrect user name or password was specified for the sending of a file to a file server or an incorrect destination was specified for the sending of an e-mail message or I-fax.

      Cause 1
      An incorrect user name or password was specified for the sending of a file to a file server.
      Remedy:
      Change the user name or password.

      Cause 2
      An incorrect destination was specified for the sending of an e-mail message or I-fax.
      Remedy:
      Check the e-mail or I-fax address.

        Thanks for the replies.

        So when we are sending the fax we choose to receive the confirmation via email and enter the email address in the driver window. The canon sends the fax successfully and then attempts to send the email but generates error 806. The username/password to send emails via scanning is correct and working. Is there another SMTP server config or port setting that needs to be setup to send fax confirmations?

          Is it possible the username/password error is because the computer username is being used and that account doesn't exist on the copier? I was under the impression that error was generating from the email account.
