There's probably a way to do it on everybodys machine. the "secret codes" can be very usefull. as for as it being illegal i don't know for sure, I don't thing so but it could bring on a law suit. I don't mind if little places have the secret codes but in the wrong hands ( big dealers and wholesalers) it could be bad. most little dealers are selling and renting machines that will go to scrap when they are thru. when I buy used machine I will not pay much more for a low count machine than one with 2 to 300 k because you will probably install the same parts before sending it out as it usualy has been in the field for at least 3 yrs. at least we do. The way things are now we don't care to sell a machine if we are not getting a service contract on it. the profit is not there. we rather rent on cost per copy plan overall. haveing the secret codes helps with board replacement and copy counts. I give the customers what he wants. good copies at a reasonable cost. if I don't he will go elsewhere. to each his on about rolling back meters. a lot more could be said but

I love resetting counters using canon software with my own knowledge and abilities. And I don't think so if it's unprofessional or unethical. I hope that all of us in this forum are honest and not hypocrites (you know what I mean). peace

just run backwards copies through the copier till it counts back to the meter count you want...

Restting meters

If you run double sided back through you'll get to your meter count even faster and refill your toner hopper as well. Things are looking up for you.
