IR 3300 with dead hard drive

I inherited a IR3300 copier with a new office, and it appears that the hard drive is bad. Actually appears is not the choice word, but rather heard that the hard drive is bad...it squeals like a pig being chased. I see that it is a standard ATA hard drive, but I am sure it needs the system software and such? Is this still available or something that I need to contact a dealer for? I am a software engineer, so getting it reinstalled with SST and the OS would not be a problem, but don't know if I can get it without being a contractor. If this is the case, anyone close or can anyone recomend someone close to Rochester Michigan to come fix?
    thanks
    MD

Yes it will have to be flashed with new system software which you can only get easily as a Canon service provider. Also only Canon approved hard drives will work with the Service Support Tool although you can modify the Hard drive format file to include one that you might have already bought if it is not on the list. I would recommend checking the Yellow pages for a certified Canon dealer to help you out.
