Hi, this is my first post here, or in any old school forum website like this, so please be patient with me.
So my company recently bought a Canon TM-300 and a Colortrac M40 Large Format Scanner, which came with Smartworks MFP 4 software. However, Smartworks 4 does not seem to support the TM-300, so I downloaded Smartworks 5. This lead to other problems: Smartworks 5 (and Smartworks 4 for that matter) does not seem to want to recognize the scanner. The computer the scanner came with (the manual calls it the AIO) does recognize the scanner, and the M Series Utility also recognizes it. Also, when I try to select a file to print, the program immediately crashes. I read the Smartworks 5 manual and it looks like I need a "Dongle" for the program to recognize SmartLF scanners (I believe that's what the M40 is), but I can't find that anywhere on the internet. Lastly, I tried using the Smartworks TOUCH, and I managed to print successfully with it, but it still does not recognize the scanner. I tried calling tech support but they were just as lost as I was. Maybe I'm just not describing the problem correctly, idk. I do not know how to fix this and it's driving me insane.
I also have some other questions. Does the MFP Utilities and Driver (from here Canon MFP Support Site) support the M40? I tried downloading but the utility does not recognize the scanner (ugh) and the driver fails to install, probably because it's only for the T series but idk if it is only for that. Various sources say that it's absolutely needed for Smartworks 5 to recognize the scanner, so the obvious conclusion would be that Smartworks 5 does not support the M40, but I found a video of some guy who was successfully using this scanner with Smartworks 5 (Smartworks MFP5 Configuration and Features - YouTube check the bottom left). Where can I get the "Dongle"?
Please help me, I'm about to smash this scanner against the wall. Maybe the wall will recognize it lol
