Looks you're right, some Konicas will do the same and you need to perform trouble reset after cleaning jammed paper to clear the code.
Just wait for Canon guys help here.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

During transport, metal plate deforms inside the machine.
Remove all paper cassettes out and you'll see.Remove and fix the plate.
Gene III has this modified.Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

This was resolved. Both paper trays were not drawing in and locking. What i found was that both cassette auto close assemblies spring units inside completely reversed to the forward position. Once i took them out of the paper tray unit and reversed them back it now works fine. Not sure how they got that way. This all started with a paper jam behind trays.Comment
