    canon ir5000 no printing

hi i got a canon ir5000 that i installed a network card , the machine is able to scan via network , i can see the settings if i put the ip number in the explorer , but i cannot print.. i installed the correct driver and no results , any idea whats the problem???

i think the machinne doesnt just have the software for copying and it needs to be updated.... is this posible???

thanks in advance , sorry for my english

Check boot rom in service mode latest is 26.44,check
PS/PCL in Service Mode>Copier>Display>Version>PS/PCL if there is a blank area where the version would normally be displayed then it needs the correct firmware, It should say 40.xx.

            Hello cdvidaceiba,

The picture was a nice touch! It does not show boot rom version, which should tell us if it is C copier or N network rom. The original print kits came with the NIC & boot rom. After the 2 items were added to machine, then you had to update system software to the network version. Till all steps
are performed, the copier will not print.

            have a good one!

That's correct...add a copier bootrom...update ALL the system software using the "N" software and way you go.

The bootrom shown is the "C" type, which is what the copier is built with initially. As I mentioned before, you need the "N" type rom chip if you want to get this machine to print. Then the network version of the software needs to be loaded. The copier will then be able to be used as a printer.

The bootrom you mentioned in your last message is also a "Copier" boot rom. Look for one ending in "N". There is no way for a C to be made into an N. Canon is the only place I know that can write the chip. Even if you are an authorized dealer, they do no ship out a rom to you in advance, you can have them replace a defective one, but they don't exchange c's for n's .

                    Have a good one!
