    ir 3045 canon

I'm having a fax issue on a canon 3045 I can fax(send) out but cannot receive faxes in.The phone line is good because a stand alone fax machine works fine.Any settings i should check?
I'm leaning towards the board on the copier where the phone cable plugs in.Fm2-3046-000.Any help is appreciated.

Does it go thru the processing state, you can see the job being received after its been received ok it prints out. Check the send tab in system monitor, clear out all jobs if possible. Two thing i've seen when troubleshooting this kind of problem, one its memory, its probably full and two software. Print out the user data list, then try clearing mmi. you can also try doing a 1&9 or a fax all clear ,if you do not succeed flash machine. Plus make sure all cassettes have paper, sometimes faxes are designated to print out.

    Goodluck.

Make sure the origin (country) is set properly.

Something I am curious about is does the unit start to receive the call. You will have to turn up the volume to monitor the exchange, and or watch the data processing light. There is a setting, it's name escapes me now, (senility setting in ;-)), but auto receive or something like that. If unit gets changed to manual receive, and no one is aware that a fax job is waiting to come in, then it will not process.

Another issue I have faced recently was a PBX issue. The incoming signal would ring an old bell telephone till it was picked up and then you could talk on it. With my faxphone (Canon handset with buttons) it would ring only once, and when answered there was no one there. You could call/fax out on the line, but not in. I verified with a desktop fax machine, same issue. I had customer contact their phone guy, and issue turned out to be in their rollover circuit in their PBX system.

        happy hunting,let us know...
