When the Canon cant Browse to set SMB Scanning shortcuts - Checklist.

If you cant just ask the IT Admin to add the unit to the active directory...what do we do? AD Step-by-Step Tutorial: Learn the Basics of Configuring AD Instead of study the link above... maybe someone here has a quick run down of what to do???
I have used Canon Imagerunner parts for sale. Most are floor model Color and / Advances Imagerunner with some 3025 3235 parts. Several intact machines being parted.

Special firmware for SMB 2/3. I've had to install it on tons of machines for scanning to file issues

There are just too many variables for a simple check list: First try a com test, if it fails then something is blocking communication or you have gateway or dns IP's wrong. Print User Data List so you have settings you can go back to. Set Canon to DHCP and try com test again. You can try to ping IP of Computer from the Canon. As mentioned before, there is special firmware for the older Canons to scan using SMB 2/3, problem being, once you install it, you can not upgrade firmware again because they would lose the SMB 2/3 scanning. When having trouble getting scan to SMB to work, I will scan to my own laptop just to verify it works, then create a new user on customer's computer (probably the most common issue is customer not knowing their credentials) or I will go to a command prompt to see what the actual logged in user name is. Sometimes the host name won't work so the scan is setup using IP address of the computer. Verify the folder you created is on c:\ and Everyone and Read/Write permissions. Sometimes the user name must have the domain name before it. Sometimes their is Kaspersky running and blocking it, you can turn off temporarily and try. Other solutions are to install FTP client on computer and setup scan to FTP (advantage is if user password is changed, it won't affect FTP scanning). Set up scan to email (assuming customer knows nothing about their SMTP use Gmail with 2 step verification and APP password.

I've had to install the special firmware many times, but yes, no upgrade, lose email(SSL/TLS issues). FTP is the way to go. Port 587 is prettywell the standard now for email. Gmail needs 'less secure apps allowed" enabled. I tell customers to upgrade their copier and they won't have these issues..lol
