    Ir 8500 no display "help"

I posted a couple days ago and tried the connectors at the op unit, main pcb, power pcb and controller pcb. Still no display. Keep in mind the machine cycles and come to ready state but has user codes and runs with no display. On Kyocera's the displays were crap and had to be replaced from time to time. I noticed the Lamp regulator/ballast type pcb is discolored and smells suspect. There is no physical evedence of burning, arcing, or damage to LCD pcb. Do these models have history of display issues and Could someone indulge me with the part#'s for the regulator and locd pcb's so I can try to order somewere.

    Thanks in advance.

Control panel FG6-7338-000. No big issues with the control panel's but you never know. Process of a elimination.

    Good luck,

The best place to start would have been the LCD display

Try the bootrom...if the filters have been neglected the rear of the machine could be dusty enough to soil the contacts.
I know it sounds left of field but i had the same issue on an Irc6800 last week...did a drum service...put the machine back together and closing the process unit was enough to dislodge some dust and the machine powered up with no screen...it did idle rotation and came to a ready state...but the LCD stayed blank.
I've had it on ALL Canon machines across the range.

I would suspect the boot ROM or the RAM. If it is booting up and has a green light it would more likely be the RAM. If it is the Boot it should not go through its starting rotation. Reseating the boot and RAM is always a good idea as long as the machine is unplugged. It may also help to start the machine with the drawers out. This would eliminate a short related to the drawers. You can also unplug one connector at a time on the DC controller, if the screen powers up there is a short connected to the wire unplugged from the DC con. There is also a small PCB just above the power supply PCB. This is the all-day power supply and it can blow a fuse or have other issues that will cause the same problem.
