    printer driver messup

    hay
I'm a novice at all this
    but here is my problem:
i got a canon IR5065 connected through usb to my PC
I'm using the UFRII drive to print but the drive cancels the job just as it
    gets it
and the user manual for this error code (853) tells me to TRY again!?
that does not get me to far
    any ideas

To the best of my knowledge that USB port is for upgrading system software using a USB key.
For you to print to this machine you STILL need a print kit comprising a bootrom and Network card and you print via an RJ45 network patch lead.
Sorry to say but it's never going to work.

Ok..double checked the machine specs at Canon.inc and it seems that yes...you can print via USB OR the embedded NiC....
HOWEVER...to allow ANY printing you still need to purchase the Print/PDL kit.

          Hello,

To the best of my knowledge they print from USB data drives so yours may be getting an error message because you have connected it to the computer.

Unfortunatlly I have very limited experience with this model, but I do know that USB drives carry driver files to make them work on any computer etc. It may be that the Canon is looking for these files and not finding them, thus the error.

Just my 2c but hope it may help.

Oze is correct about the need for a print kit,, which in this machines case is a license that needs to be verified on Canon website. The resulting number is entered into the copier system to allow printing. These machines no longer require boot rom change to be a networkable copier. Without the license, the IP can still be established on the machine, and RUI can be accessed to look at and change some machine functions, such as fax address books. As far as printing from USB, I have not done so, but you have to be using the B port to do so, and not the A port, the one that looks like your laptop port.

again i'm no pro at this but to the best of my understanding in dealing with the mechine is that when you connect through USB there's no need for an IP adress and a printer kit
so if you or anybody can confirm the need for a kit for this mechine
or can tell me what to do with the above error code (853) and problem
              that would be great!
              thanks alot

Seeing as how you say that you're "no pro"..when two "pro's" have told you that you DO in fact still need a print kit to actually PRINT why do you keep asking the same question.
In my last post I told you that I pulled the info directly from Canon.inc website.
I LOVE I.T people who think that because they can plug in a router they then know all the in's and out's of a copier.
                Good Job

                    Is this the error message:
                    # 853
                    Cause 1
When trying to print a large number of pages, the job is not performed due to insufficient
                    memory resources.

                    Remedy
Reduce the number of pages to print, or perform the print job again when no other jobs are
                    reserved.

                    Cause 2
The job could not be processed, because it was canceled from the printer driver while the
print data was being sent to the machine.

                    Remedy
                    Try printing again.

The job's being sent to the machine but because their is no print kit or PDL kit installed, the machine doesn't know what to do with it.
The USB port that you're trying to print from can be used without a print kit but just for pull scanning...NOT printing.

Just an observation.. to continue Oze's IT theme.
You can get a simular fault if you send a print job to a "print ready" machine with the wrong driver.. ie these are "ready" for ufr print but will lose pcl or ps jobs even though they appear in the print log as complete..IT heads love to load pcl as first choice..
