canon irc3220 printing problem

My machine is irc 3220N and come with printer unit c1. My problem is if printing red colour somtimes coming out sometimes not coming. but if i photostat is no problem and ok. i know is printer c1 problem, but dunno how to solves it? pls help.....

Update the firmware on the C1 for starters.

Clean the optics,white plate then do ccd adjust on machine. Do auto gradations in user mode. Get a set of Kodak strips to calibrate the rip(C1)...Printer/calibrate,etc,etc.. Re-seat the SCSI cable connectors on rip and machine
