    [Misc] irC2380 network/email issue

Hi guys. I know this has come up before many times but none of the cures on the forum have worked for me. I have an old irC2380i which I just cant get it to scan to email or scan to file.
Thing is it used to work fine. Its not on a commercial network just a home one so no servers etc. The email settings I've tried various ones for Gmail and yahoo etc and changed ports but nope, nothing. If I try set up scan to file It finds the 'home' network but wont find anything within it.
It was suggested it needs a new driver but its using the latest pcl one from canon and anyway, it used to email straight from the printer with no other computers on so I don't see how the driver matters?

Now someone advocated I should do a factory reset and start again, HOWEVER.. here's the bit where I'm confused. I'm an ex tv engineer/motor mechanic/engineer so I understand the full mechanics of how it all works. What I DONT understand is the 'licence' thing? There are several places within its menus that mention licences and activation codes. I don't really know how they work, I got no info with the printer as it was second-hand. If I do reset it, will it be a problem? I don't want it to lose any of its capabilities.

    Anyone help me out here?
    Cheers
    Andy

Scan to folder and scan to email two very different issues

Scan to email machine needs an upload account.

    Lets start with the basics
Run an ipconfig to get the network's settings

Be sure to enter the gateway without it nothing will go outbound.

Try YouTube for setup on scan to email settings

Print driver has nothing to do with scanning.

Scan to folder requires shared folder user name and password.
    Again YouTube for setup

By that Im assuming you mean a valid gmail\yahoo etc email account? Which I have.

      Lets start with the basics
Run an ipconfig to get the network's settings

      Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

      Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : home
      Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::9c9f:794b:b295:60b4%10
      IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.204
      Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254

Be sure to enter the gateway without it nothing will go outbound.

Thats the router ip you mean yes? the 192.168.1.254

Try YouTube for setup on scan to email settings

Think Ive been through about every youtube video on there and tried them all!

Print driver has nothing to do with scanning.

No, I figured that, however, it seems odd that both scan and email seemed to stop working around the same time

Scan to folder requires shared folder user name and password.

Yep, got that but still wont see it.

      Again YouTube for setup
got those replies in the wrong place but never mind! I do wonder if its a network thing but then again it prints from pc etc fine

Scan to folder may not work because SMB1 is disabled in Win10 by default. Scan to gmail requires SSL to be turned on and port set to 465. 2-step verification and app password. (don't use less secure device setting anymore)

Hi, thanks for the reply. Not heard about smb being disabled before but I enabled it and unfortunately the printer still cant see any further down than 'Desktop', which is the name of my PC. It comes up with 'Home', I can go into that and it comes up with 'eehub' (my router) and 'desktop'. Going into desktop brings up nothing further. I have shared folder on my pc but just wont see it. (this is when I use 'send', 'file', 'windows smb' and 'browse'

Re gmail, I dont really want to have to set up two factor verification on it. I do have yahoo accounts I can try but I get the same results with those. (have also changed ports accordingly).

this is a screenshot of the setup in gmail:-

          (hopefully, if the picture attaches)

You can also use ftp to scan using filezilla server.

I have Filezilla on my PC, I use it to transfer cnc files to my bench. How would I set that up?

Actually just tried it but it seems the current version of filezilla bears no resemblance to the one in the video!
