Image Runner C5550i Toner Door Question

    Hello,

My school has recently started using various Cannon Image Runner copiers around campus. I'm responsible for changing toner on these machines as they run out but noticed something about this specific model (we have different models around campus). You are unable to remove the toner until it is empty and the copier allows you to open the toner door. This creates an issue where a department runs out of toner and it can't always be changed right away which causes unhappy faculty and staff.

Now, I get alerts when the toner is down to 5% but that doesn't help me since I'm not able to change the toner at that time. So my question to this fine community is this:

A- Is there a way to manually open the toner door so I can change the toner at 5% or lower without it being completely out?

B- Is there a way to configure the copier to allow me to go through the normal toner swap process at a toner level greater than 0%?

I'm hoping somebody here will be able to help me out with this, I find it hard to believe this is some unchangeable 'feature'.

    Thanks!

Hello, good afternoon, this series of canon models is for the corporate area, it seems to me that you cannot remove the toner bottle because it is already configured so that the company acquired the canon printer, only authorized personnel can

    replace toner ..
But if you want to remove the toner before the replace toner cartridge message appears. the option would have to be disabled in service mode

Thanks for the response. Does this mean that it is a setting that can be adjusted in the service menu? This model used to be in public areas for student use, so I understand not wanting people to mess with the toner. Now they have been relocated to internal department suites, that feature is more hassle than helpful. If there is a way to adjust this setting does anybody know the area in the service menu to look? I'd love to be able to pass some information on to the people who might be able to make those changes.

talk to your service provider about this issue. It is fixable, but I am not going to screw with another companies profit margins in that manner.

            Hi

Please check the menu, you need to open toner door and in printer menu you need to tap toner change(depend of color), toner will pop out automatically.

            Read this please.
