Reset Firmware? - Problems with Internal Finisher

I have a client who has a Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCED C5540i, and the internal sorter is showing an error because there is a firmware mismatch with the main unit. We've tried the update using auto-update but no luck. I'm unable to find a copy of the firmware to mount on a USB, so if someone can help with that, I'd appreciate it.

My other thought was, can Canons be taken back to factory on a reset, to include firmware? Or does it just remove the user data? I was thinking if I could reset firmware, it might go back far enough to also pick up the sorter unit as well. My guess is this client took a sorter off another one of the units they had, and put it on this one, and this copier was more than 2 firmware updates ahead. As a Xerox dealer, we run into this type of thing constantly, and was thinking Canons might be the same way when it comes to updates on peripherals.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We've tried to do this in service mode, but the place to update it, is gone. Even when we turn off "scheduled update", manual update doesn't appear, as shown in the service manual.

you can MMI clear these machines or initialize printer settings, but i would start with going into service mode to update firmware. machine needs to be networked

touch settings registration , then go to updater , select the most current firmware and agree to legal jargin.... dont power off untill it resumes normal copy screen, they often display that the machine has been updated on an initial display screen

    good luck
