    System Software

Is there a way to use the pdl downloader to backup system software on an F1 print board (iR550/600), namely f1_v21.um ? It has been a long time, but I do help a friend of mine with his print shop, and his board went south once. I had an extra hard drive with 2.1 on it, and it worked (was pulled out of a junker long ago), and it is still running to this day. I have to go there Monday to replace the fuser motor (E014), and while I am there I was going to maybe try and back this up. I quit working at the Canon auth dealer I was with for 8 years after getting Cisco certified, and I love configuring networks, but I still miss working on Canons (was segment 3, 4 and CLC).
If there is not a way to copy the system software (I am okay with UNIX/Linux, and I thought I had heard that the hdd was partitioned with a UFS/LFS...), is there a way to acquire this? If this goes against forum rules, that is not my intention---please let me know and not boot me, and maybe point me in the right direction (I.E. inurl Google hacks...). Thanks, people.
I also have been unable to successfully login to support.cusa.canon.com, but can reset my password (still cannot)...is there a certain amount of time to wait after resetting the password before one can log in?

Your Canon login usally goes away when you leave a Canon Dealer, unless the dealer you worked for didn't kill your login. I don't know why you would want to back up the old system software maybe for some settings that you don't want to lose. You need Service Support tool to do what you want to do I think, iR600 are alittle before my trainning though I did train on a iR600 during basic quest. I may be able to help with some of the things you need.

The dealer did not kill my login. I quit three years ago, almost to the day, and was able to login up until 2 days ago---the last successful login was maybe 4 months ago. My first machine I trained on was the NP 3325/3825, then the 3030/3050. I worked on MANY 3825 version 1 machines, first made in '86, and now I work on servers, mostly newer, but a few months back worked on a MicroVAX II, made in 1978.
Anyway, thanks for the reply---that system software is hard to come by, it seems...

My dear friend i am unable to find the CD containing the system software of 600. I went through most of my CD's and was not able to figure out where i had kept it. I havent used this model for couple of years so must be lying around somewhere . I hope someone else could help you out with the system software. If nothing else works e-mail me at davidj7@gmail.com I will arrange the software for you from other tech's

That's ok---I'm not going to touch it until I need to anyway, but I could preload an extra hard drive if I had the system software. Thanks anyway, and if you do come across one, that would be awesome! I have the M1 RIP sys software if you need it...
