    reset/reinstall software on a fiery

Hey all, it seems as if the copier problems never end here at the office. We bought another color copier (used - c3220 with a fiery). I'm trying to go into the settings and change some network settings etc...but there's a password. We've called the vendor we purchased it from, and they don't know the password. I've searched around here on the forums, did the Fiery.1 etc...no luck.

After searching through the threads, i found one on a konica/minolta machine that said you can reinstall the software on the fiery to bring it back to factory defaults...is this possible with canon?

If you reinstall the system software for the Fiery it DOES want you to reinput all the settings including the password.
It sounds as though somebody changed the password whilst patching or reinstalling the Fiery software for the C1.

C1 system software, laptop, crossover cable.
Put the C1 into download mode by switching the dip switches to download mode. connect laptop with the crossover cable and run the CD (software). Give it a few minutues as the progess bar will seem like like its not doing anything, this is normal, it will install and after the process is done the password would be. Fiery.1, then run setup.

crap...gotta find that CD...i have it somewhere...as for the switches, do you know the switch settings for download mode off the top of your head? i know that's probably asking a lot, but i know a lot of you guys out there are on top of your game.

edit: ok i could've sworn there were more than 2 switches, and i saw the "DL" on one side, so i guess it's just both of the switches down to the DL-side. Now i have to find that cd...how easy is it to get a copy of that cd if i can't find it?

OK, thanks again for everything...i have the CD, and i've switched the c1 to download mode on the dipswitches. but when i open up the fiery downloader (i believe this is the interface which we're supposed to use), i try to enter the IP of the copier and it fails to connect...is there a default IP for the C1 when it is in download mode?

                1. Print out a Configuration page then shut down and power off the imagePASS-C1 v2.0.
                2. Disconnect the network cable from the imagePASS-C1 v2.0 network port. This would be the cable to a customer network, not the Cross-over Ethernet cable that connects to the copier.
                3. Flip the imagePASS-C1 v2.0 mode dip switch 1 (DL) to ON (toward the letters DL).
                4. Connect the computer and imagePASS together either with a Cross-over Ethernet cable or through a dedicated hub or switch.
                5. Power on the computer.
                6. It should not matter whether the computer is set to use a static IP Address or to obtain one automatically.
                7. Insert the imagePASS-C1 v2.0 System Software CD into the computers CD-ROM drive.
                8. Navigate to the CD-ROM drive and double-click on icon for Install.exe. For a faster installation, the files can be copied from the CD to a location on the computers Hard Disk Drive. If this is done, copy the application file and the folder on the CD to a new folder on the Hard Disk Drive. Do not mix the CD files with other files on the computers Hard Disk Drive. The files may be deleted once the installation is complete.
                9. When the Install.exe utility is started, the following screen is displayed:

Hey screwtape...thanks for all of your help...i found the password retrieval tool on another posting (Here it is)and gave it a shot...worked perfectly...turned out to be some funky mess of numbers and letters that would have been impossible to guess.
