    Canon CLC 1150 CLC 800

Hi, We just recently purchased a Canon CLC 1150 color printer. It has an error which prevents the machine from warming up, which is stated in the service record as "RPC Scan Drive BD"

It makes a wierd grinding noise under the scanner bed when turned on.

I have a CLC 800 to use for parts, all I need to know is What part is the scan drive?

I assume it has something to do with the scanner motor?

    Please help!

    Whats the error code?
Scan drive does not ring a bell,
BD, (Beam detect) which is found in the laser unit.

It is not posting any error code.
I tell the printer to print, it says printer is warming up, and nothing happens.

Before it states "RPC Scan Drive BD" on the service record, it says "wont warm up"

This machine was well serviced up until this problem arose, so it must be fairly serious.

P.S. For some reson it keeps telling me to empty the waste toner.

Do you have a rip connected to the clc?
Does the fixing ass'y get hot.
Try blowing out the sensor for the waste toner, make sure the waste toner container is clean at the top or replace it with a new one.

You state that you just bought this machine from someone. I would contact the people you bought it from and ask to get contact info to the service provider and give them a call to see what the previous problems were with the machine. If you are lucky, you might get to talk to the actual tech that was servicing the copier. Then you will be able to make some informed decisions.

If this is the first time you have switched the m/c on then the noise you here could be the scanner trying to move. it may of been taped down or check for a sliver plate just above the paper tray remove it if its there..as for the waste toner make sure the plastic part on top is cleaned on the outside aswell as inside
            Good luck

I will try to get ahold of the original tech but this copier has been stored since 2005.
So far I have changed the scanner motor, but this did not fix the problem.
The scanner will slide around manually with no hang ups but when powered it just sits there and makes noise like it is being held in place, even though it is not.
I think it may be something wrong with the optical motor driver board, which would make sense, or possibly another faulty motor?
Either way I can manually aid the scanner into place and at least get it to print from a controller.

Now I have a couple other problems...

The first is that it feeds fine from the bypass tray, but 90% of the time paper "jams" straight out of trays 1 and 2, it literally barely picks up the paper and detects a jam. Any obvious solutions to this problem?

The second is the print server I am using for this printer is a " Splash T200 V1.1 Print Server/Controller," and I can not find any drivers for this thing. If anyone could get me any sort of information on this print controller, whether it be drivers or networking information, that would be amazing.
We just pretty much gave away two Colorpass Z5100 servers, and all I have left is a Colorpass z90 that I can format if necessary.

                Need jam codes..
I only have access to the Canon database while i'm at work so any problems that you guys have...like we tell the customers...I need all the info you can give me first up..error codes..jam codes etc....then while I'm sitting in the Canon Techbase I can look it up for you.

I'm with Oze on this one, we need the codes to be able to assist on the jamming issue, but my guess, since you state the machine has been dormant for years is bad feed rubber, time as well as use causes issues with sep rollers in particular.

As for your controller issues, I have never heard of the one you mentioned,,, but I do have in my possession a new ColorPASS Z650 that I would consider selling.
