Canon iR3300 - Automatic Cassette Paper Feeding

    Hi all brothers ,

I have a iR3300 running on network print.I face this problem, All of my cassette were using A4 size , 1st Cassette Plain Paper 2nd Cassette draft paper and 3rd also draft paper . The problem is whenever i want to print specific Cassette example Cassette 3 i have selected 3rd Cassette but it was funny out of 8 pages it will take 4pcs from 3rd Cassette and 4pcs from 1st Cassette. This means plain paper + draft paper in 1 set.

Does anyone know where can i adjust it so the paper supply from cassette will only take from the cassette i ask for but not randomly get paper from other trays?

    Thank you

    Hi Calvin,

I am not sure why it is taking paper from multiple cassettes if 3 was fully loaded. I do know that you can shutdown sourcing from other drawers by turning off all the cassettes in the Additional Functions screen. Open Additional Functions, can't recall proper name for button, but it is upper left, not Common Functions. On page 2-3 there is a selection for APS, automatic paper sourcing. When that is pressed you have 4 functions that you can setup sourcing for. Press Print, and turn off auto to all drawers.
When the copier is restarted. It will only source paper from the drawer indicated in the driver or page setup. When that drawer is sensed out of paper, the copier will halt till paper is added.

APS/ADS...when you set a paper tray to NO , then that means that it is not eligable to be switched to automatically. When set to YES it will automatically be switched to when a paper tray with identical paper size AND type(color, bond, heavy) is empty. The paper settings are in additional functions,i think common settings, register paper type. Make sure two-way communication is set up in the driver for updating machine status?configuration

hello fr2au , mrfixit and canuck

I have set all but still same well i'm going to tell again hopefully it will be more clear for you guyz to look into..

              Canon iR3300
              Network Capable

              1st Cassette : Plain Paper ( New )
2nd Cassette: Used Paper ( Draft)
              3rd Cassette : Used Paper ( Draft)
              4th Cassette: Unused

Problem : When a print job is sent to print (8pages) to 1st CST , It will take 4 papers from 1st Cassette and 4 from 2nd Cassette.

When a print job is sent to print (8pages) to 2nd CST . it will take 3 papers from 2nd Cassette and 5 papers from 1st Cassette.

So ..... the machine have MIXED up the output. They will 2 type of paper in a set of 8pages.Either way....

Anyone here that knew how to set it so it will only get paper supply from only 1 cassette but not taking from other cassette.

              Thank you

              Calvin

                Ok ..here's the thing...
You've had numerous good technicians at this site tell you that it has to be done via APS/ADS...
                It DOES work.
From your description of the way it's running the job it sounds like a job build.
The machine cannot decide on it's own to do this it has to be told either via driver or page setup and printer properties to do so.
Using APS/ADS is the way to tell the machine to pick from a particular cassette for a particular job/paper type..such as selecting colored paper from draw 2 for faxes and not autoswitching to any other cassette for that job type.
Here's what I want you to try for me:

Open your preferred document creating program(NOT Adobe Acrobat).
Create a new single page document.
                Select 20 copies
Select paper source as Drawer 1
Select "A4" as the output size(NOT "match paper size")
                Print the document.
Did all the job come from the one paper source?
                NEXT:
Open up your preferred document program
                Create a 20 page document
Select paper source as drawer 1
                Select "A4"
                Print the document
Did all of the job come from the one paper source?
                NEXT:
Run the job you've been trying to run but this time check the settings under Print properties to see if it's set the same as the two previous test jobs.
