    [Error Code] Imagerunner 2380i - E000990-0000

    Hello

I have found a few articles, mostly on this site, about this which appear to indicate it is to do with the PS12 sensor being blocked.

I am looking into this for a new client who has recently moved office. The copier was working before the move but is now reporting this error. I'm assuming therefore the problem causing the error was caused by the move i.e. a bump ride or whatever.

The client is based up in Staffordshire UK. I have called around a few businesses but no-one deals with Canon, or knows anyone that does. I have a called Canon directly but we are a bit hesitant to go down that result due to costs and the machine being quite old.

I was wondering therefore whether this might be something I could tackle using the information I have gleaned so far and the service manual if I can get hold of it? I am quite practically minded anyway and it feels perhaps there is little to lose by having a go.

Of course if I were able to get a hold of an independant service engineer in the area then that would be my first option.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

The sensor is probably blocked with toner, it's not a pleasant job.

      Thanks

I saw where you had posted the PDF before. It's very useful but seems I need to refer to the service manual.

Do you know where I might be able to obtain it?

I see there is a specific forum for service manual requests but it requires a user to have made 5 posts beforehand.

If you look at the other threads on this error, some people have managed to fix this with a carefully positioned air duster, it saves all the dismantling.

As for the service manual, check your pm's

            Just one thing.

I noticed the PDF you sent and the service manual are for other models. Would these also be relevant to my model, the 2380i?

They are the same as far as disassembly.

                  hi,

ive seen the couplings break on the process unit where the drums sit. If you pull out the process unit, take out a drum, any drum and with the locking handle, move it up and down as if locking and unlocking, see if the couplings in the drum housing move, all 4 should move together. If they are all ok, i get a can of air duster, and a long pvc tube or long straw, on the metal housing of the process unit, by the black drum, towards the rear of the metal housing, you can see an opening, i put the straw in there and give it a short burst of air, you will see black toner puff out of the hole. Ive stripped this down to reach the sensor and its a horrible long winded job. Use the air!

                  hope this helps
