    "mailbox" versus "Hold" ....... difference?

    IRADV DXC58xx

    Who can explain to me the difference between these two different methods?


    Printing Job Hold Documents
    Printing Job Hold Documents (C5800 Series Only)


    Printing Saved Files in the Mail box
    Setting Screen and Operations for Printing Saved Files


    I understand the purpose of the mail box as an archive.
    But the usage when printing between the two systems looks the same to me.


    How can I explain/justify this to the customer?

      Printing Job Hold Documents :Temporary Store Print jobs. Will be auto delete follow setting <Time Until Hold Job Auto Delete>. This function use for sample print or security (no one see content of documents)

      MailBox: Mainly for storing

          thanks for your info.
          but if I am not mistaken there is a preview function, you select the file and see the content.

              Both of them, you can see contents of document.

                  you can send / print (reprint and reprint) / delete saved files in mailbox (s) (p.s. mailbox 0 -99)

                  But hold document print , you only print / delete at same screen

                          The problem with HOLD option is everyones jobs are together and they can see the names of the files (you can actually change that setting to show xxxxxx). You can set the maximum delete time to 3 days which may be a good option for larger accounts that don't want to fill the memory on their MFP. MAILBOX is better because you can password your box and nobody can see the filenames. Not only can you print to a mailbox, you can scan to it. Also you can merge jobs together. An example would be: Just like in books, you have chapters...you can send a chapter at a time, then merge the chapters together to make a book as a single job. You can print or scan to email from mailbox.
                          I always recommend MAILBOXs.

                              But looking at the 'colour' aspect, are there any differences?
                              I remember that a file in mailbox is a thumbnail and has a JBIG compression (like FAX).
                              In HOLD what compression does it have?
                              In HOLD it undergoes conversions (like GRB-YMCK)


                              So what merits does HOLD have?
