Scenario: two organisations sharing an office, the later arrival is our client and they brought with them a Canon irc3200. This is the superior printer in the office and due to space considerations it has been decided that the two organisations will share that printer. The do however require that the two networks remain separate.
On other occassions with ir2200 and ir3300 models, we have been able to install a parallel port and then add a print server to the parallel port - giving a two NIC interface to the one machine.
A call to Canon gave me the answer that the irc3200 will not support dual nics and will not even support the simultaneous operation of a NIC and a parallel port.
So, my question is: does this sound right? Why would an ir2200 support two interfaces but not the irc3200?
I realise we can work around this with network changes, but our first preference would be to simply provide a second interface into the resource being shared.
Any ideas?
TIA,
David
