    IRC 5185 Noise

Hello everyone yet another issue with the IRC 5185 lol this machine is making a very loud sound it's like not a grinding noise almost like a squeaking noise. Its sounds like it is coming from the Fixing Unit but it's not, it only happens when you use the Copier this is happening with about 5 of the machines that I service. So I thought that it might be a problem that someone have delt with before hope someone can help me with this issue.

    Thank you

The noise is probably comimg from the felt/sponge on the air duct of the ITB assembly. If you take off the transfer belt and look on the wide end of the ass. under the big silver roller near, both outside edges sit foam strips that are perpendicular to the silver roller. Just remove these foam strips and your noise should go away.
    Good Luck

2 common sqeaks are the inversion idler rollers which reside under the reader to the left side. another common one is inside the itb there are 2 foam pads that ride on the inside of the belt and cause noises. I remove them.

service mode/function/part check can be used to turn motors on and off and help idenify the problem area.
