initialising a hard disk for the 3320i

    hello!

a 3320i under my care has developed bad sectors.
i have the data set for the 3320i, but i need the SST.

by the truest sense of the word, i am not a certified tech.
but i know my way around computers and printers.

i have already done a clone of the faulty HDD into a fresh one, but that is throwing errors due to data corruption.

can anyone please help by letting me have a copy of the SST?

    many thanx,
    Ark!

Try holding down 1&9 when powering up the machine and scan the hard disk to see if you can fix up some of those sectors. Did you get any E602-xxxx?

      screwtape!

      thanks for replying.

i held down 1+9 and started up. there was a small blinking cursor in the left top corner of the screen, like the full character cursor from the DOS era. and thats it. i left it like that for around 2 hours - no change.

this happens with both the original bad hard disk, and the HDD i cloned from the bad disk.

i keep getting E602-0001 the most, but there are other 602 errors also being thrown in.
if you want, i can get the printer working (somewhat) and note down the different sub-errors.

also there is this model number issue i am facing:
on the exterior of the printer, on the fornt cover, the number 3320i is printed on a small sticker.
but in the "counter check" page, near the bottom left, just below the serial mumber, it is written as iR3320(iR2220)

so which is the correct model number?

      thanx for your support,
      Ark!

The 3220i is the same machine as the 3220 but the only difference is that the 3220i comes from the factory equipped to print.
So when you use SST to load the firmware you must use the N boot and System in the 3220i folder.
So if you can print to the machine then use the 3220i firmware...if it's a copier only then use the 3220 firmware.

there is no 3220 or 3220i in the printer.
          only confusion between 3320i, 3320 and 2220

          thanx very much,
          Ark!

IR3320i Also it come standard with universal send and meap. If you have a send or meap tab then its a ir3320i. The firmware is v52.03 and the bootrom 26.44N for this model. This is the latest firmware for this model. If the scan disk failed, but you clone the HDD and getting 602 with different sub codes chances are its just the firmware and not the HDD.

i just took out a "copy service report" and here are the details:

              System Name - iR2220
              DC-CON 11.01
              R-CON 07.01
              panel - 00.02
              power - 02.01
              feeder - 06.01
              sorter - 01.05
              fax - ----
              NIB - 03.00
              PS/PCL 41.10
              LIPS - ----
              MN-CONT - 38.01
              Boot-ROM - 26.44N
              diag-DVC - ----
              RUI - 35.01
              punch - ----

              Java-VM - 01.08.7
              MEAP - 38.01

now i am even more confused. the boot rom number matched, but which is the firmware number?? and where is the firmware cartridge located in the printer?

i think this doesnt have universal send (how can i check??), but this does have MEAP - says "no applications currently loaded" when selected.

i dont think the firmware is bad, as i scanned the original hard disk with spinrite level 5 yesterday night, and it shows a lot of unrecoverable physical errors near the beginning of the drive

if you want, i can scan and post the entire copy serive report here...

thanx a lot for taking your time to help me out,
              Ark!

                System Version = MN-CONT - 38.01
System is stored on the hard disc and working memory SDRAM
MEAP overwritten each time when you load system

i just learnt that the model numbers have their origins in the PPM count.

from that, i clocked the page count (on photocopy), and this printer pushes out 33 pages per minute.

and this has an ADF - the 'i' in the end??
so the model has to be a 33??i

am i on the right track? i am just confused by all the 22XX references in the display and the CSR
this also has a finisher (?) - it has staples.

also, is the SST 1.63E (DLM0) the latest version of the SST??

thanx a lot to all of you,
                  Ark!

                      ah!

can someone be kind enough to let me have a copy of the SST 4.11? i would be most thankful.

i installed the driver on my local system, and it got installed as "2220/3320 pcl6"
so is this is really a 3320i??

is the data set for the 3320i labeled as "iR2220i-3320i_v38.01"
the software for the both the models are the same??
                      is this the latest version??

                      thanx,
                      Ark!

I told you in the last post i posted that the The firmware is v52.03 and the bootrom 26.44N for this model. This is the latest firmware for this model. The bootrom is ok, so when you flash the machine use the skip/upgrade option in the SST and it will skip the bootrom and upgrade what ever else it has to. When you get your hands on the SST and firmware flash it. What ever it saids on the front of the machine is what the model is, never mind what it says in counter check.

                          thank you for the confirmation.

i got the SST, but i am still looking for the data files.
                          does anyone have it?
