    IRC 5185 Toner spill

Hello once again I have 2 IRC 5185 that I am having an issue with toner spilling inside the machine, not sure if its the cleaning blade or what. One machine the waste toner is not getting to the Waste Toner Bottle just spilling on the inside of the machine. I removed the screw and took out the Auger(sp) and tried to clean that out but same issue can anyone point me in the right direction.

    Thank you

I had one where the gear on the end of the auger had slipped off and wt was backing up.

The drum units are the only thing that can be spilling developer on to the transfer belt inside. The toner containers are above the drum units, so what's spilling is the developer from the drums.. Time to change the drums or maybe you have a defected one, Are the drums old? Check out the the drum life in service mode.

The drums dump once they reach 200% of life.
Also...the wt auger screw assembly needs replacing sometimes....it builds the waste toner up and spills over the front onto the itb assy.
It's the same part number as the iRC3200 toner screw assembly.

If the toner is falling on the secondary transfer roller check the mylar strip on the waste toner feeding srew. Paper can get jammed up there and deform the strip. Best way to check is to remove the the c/blade and rack back the t/b unit and check with a torch to see if the strip is not sitting up against the belt (it only needs to be a mm away from it)
