Sample 4551.pdfI have a Canon irAdv4551 in the field that has light copies and prints, see attached. We have tried new drum, a developer unit, laser unit and registration roller. Also, if you make a two-sided copy, the 2nd side is significantly better (tried new paper too). The developer unit we tried came out of a working 4551 so we could eliminate the possibility of bad toner. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try Adjust Gradation
Adjusting Gradation
if not, try change laser cable from a good printer. -
Re: Adv4551 light copies and prints
I've had a couple simmilar cq to your example, swapped drums, dev units and lasers, nothing worked. Mine ended up being the HVT board. Try upping your dev bias and see if that improves your pcq. If it does, I'd suggest try going down that route. There was a bulletin in the Backend FAQ's (available on SIMS) for the 40 or 42 series about it.Comment

Re: Adv4551 light copies and prints
Damp paper.
The reason the second side looks better is because the paper has already gone through the fuser unit.
Try fresh paper out the box that isn't sitting in the cassette.Comment
