can we continue to print with canon like Kyocera even empty color is ?

hi,
if the toner bottle is empty, there are still some toner content in the hopper unit, which can still do some printing.
and if you continue to print the machine might flag a code relative to automatic toner control (ATC) sensor
maybe i have wrong explain
is it possible to continue to print only in black even there are one of those colors empty ? ( i know is it possible by Kyocera )
maybe is there a switch ?
