    IR 8500 Jamming

Hello, I have a 8500 that is getting jam code 0109 only out of deck #1. I have replaced the whole deck unit but still getting it. When it jams their is a piece of paper in the fuser and one just starting out of the deck, same exact spot every time. All other trays work fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is a foam roller at the top of the vertical path. Check the condition of the foam and bearings and shaft. If it is worn or dry it can cause that jam. I would hope by now it has the updated roller; the original ones were too soft and got flat spots real easy.
Is the glass half full or half empty? I say neither. The glass is obviously full, full of potential. The potential to hold more water or the potential to quench a thirst. Life is all about how you see it.

To clear up any confusion. There are two foam rollers, one deals just with the by-pass tray.

I've seen the bearings for those rollers disintegrate but it's usually associated with a knocking noise.

I was out at this machine again today and when I would run a single copy, it would give me 0109 code and their would be a single sheet just in the fuser. All other trays work fine, I checked all the foam rollers, their fine.

this is a wild guess, mechanically everything is working fine and you have checked with another unit, so it rules out sensors, clutches etc etc.Put this pickup deck in another machine to be 100% sure . Could u try replacing the DC board.
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one

Before replacing the DC controller I would try reseating all the connectors on the board. I would also check the wiring going to CL8. If you have a bad connection or a bad wire it can confuse the PCB causing the 0109 even though the paper is past the sensor.
