    IR5570 network scan trial ended

We purchased an IR5570 a while back and since then the company we purchased it from is no longer there. I am now at a point were people in the company want to start scanning their paperwork, so I went to set up network scanning and a message popped up saying that our trial has ended and to contact canon to purchase scanning abilities. I am in a catch 22 here. I can't ask my boss for money to purchase this with out him seeing how it would work, and I also can't show him how simple it is to scan because the trial period was used up before we bought the machine. I can't ask the vendor we bought it from because they are out of business now, is there a way to reset the trial period so that I can test it out and show people what the money will be spent on?

    Thanks

I ran this past my Application Specialist at work, and you are out of luck on the Universal Send Trial, but she had this advice to offer:

"They can just use network scangear, it is free, they are using universal send the trial version, that is what has run out."

Scangear is downloadable from the Canon website, it acts like a twain driver, you should be able to import into something like Adobe Acrobat, the full version, not the free reader.

IMO If you could reset the trial - why would anyone buy it? Lucky for you there is more than one Canon dealer, contact them and I suspect an authorized dealer can help you more than pirates.

True, I think I am going to go with the scangear idea instead and save some money as well. We've been using a twain setup with other copiers as well, so they're used to that, I just thought if they saw the copier send the scan job to their pc they would be impressed and excited enough to pay for it.

ScanGear is ok, but it is a pull not a push. Universal Send is a push and also includes scan to e-mail. Nothing sells a push scan better than to demo it to someone using a pull. ScanGear will not impress enough to make the $$$$ of Universal Send worth the price. I still think contacting another dealer would be your best bet. They could demo the Universal Send on one of their units. Your call though.

I'm sure they would be impressed,,, and leaving your documents as orphans in the document feeder may be ok for some things, but if the scan job is sensitive in nature, you don't want to leave the documents unattended while you get back to your desktop to click on the scan button! Maybe you can locate another user of the same equipment in your area that would not mind showing your decision maker how the "real deal" works.

            Have a good weekend!!

Scangear was good for its days, plus it gets annoying going back and forth to the copier. Turn online then offline. !!(generic)!! Do what you must to get this feature added.

              Good Luck.
