IR3570\4570 Constant Jams

I am having a problem with a canon 3570\4570 copier. A customer call me complaining of constant paper jams from tray 2 letterR so I assumed this would have been a simple problem, however on getting there it immediately became clear the problem was much bigger.


Machine only prints from tray1 and Bypass anysize paper.

Trays 2 3 and 4 all jams constantly all motors are working sensors are working but machine jams no matter what paper size I uses any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you aware of all the modifications that have been done for issues like yours. Second question, are the paper size dials on each cassette set up with the right size of paper setings.(they are blue and they are on the right side of the cassette) Third question are the pick up , feed , and separation rollers in good condition, plus how are the conditions of the cassettes. The guides that hold the paper tend to not stay in place once the boss pin beneath breaks.

as far as I recall there were some changes to the inner door assy and lo\wer door assy and have replaced those parts on this machine.

Paper trays are set to all proper places, that was the first thing I checked. all rollers are in good condition in fact they are all new rollers, and the trays are lifting and holding in place.

When it jams, where does it jam. Where does the paper stop and also what are the jam codes?

the Machine Jams immediately at tray 2 feed roller trays 3 and 4 stops the same place, as for the codes, I will have those for you on Monday, as I had to travel for a few days on assignment. I have a suspicion as the problem maybe coming from the tray 2 feed roller, can't recall if that roller was turning, will verify on Monday and reply.

Hmmmmm...this sounds serious...I think you need to tell your customer that they need to fly over an expert from Australia.
It will be torture for me having to slum it in the Caribbean but I'll put on a brave face.

Sounds to me like tray2 pick up assembly is the problem. Is the one way bearing on the vertical path feed roller working as it should and are the wires to the pickup pinched or damaged.

I think tray 2,3 and 4 pick up assemblies are all the same you could try swapping them round.

May I ask, is this machine high usage, please check the flag, sensor level, it will worn off and become shorter, (FF6-2363 New Parts No. FB6-3398). new parts have added with a metal plate, that can't last longer.

ok guys thanks for all the post and help, but I figured it out, after swapping out new units and the problem still remains, it turn out that, the problem was coming from the replacement lower inner assembly, there are 2 black pieces on each side of the spring tension for the Lower door assembly, that fell off inside of the paper path.

Which was behind the plate pushing against the Lower inner door assy.

I've seen this happen. Those two black pieces are called leaf springs. Its happen to me and since they are black when they fall they end up in the paper path 75% of the time and you don't see them. Looks like the one who put in the inner door ass'y was not aware that they came off.
