    Canon DX5500 driver ???

Does anyone out there have any experience with a Canon DX5500 label printer? I helped a customer set one up about a year ago, and it was a bit of a task to get it to print good quality. We are using the Seagull Scientific free driver. Out of the blue the quality is not what it was. I think it is driver related, but cant get to the bottom of it. Curious if anyone has any experience on it.

I don't have too much experience/information on your situation with label printers but:

can you confirm the printer driver wasn't swapped? Windows does that occasionally.
if you installed the actual canon print driver; how did the quality change?

it's been a year so how much printing have you've done?
what does the quality degradation look like?
    Change in labels at all?
Can you print out an internal print to eliminate it's the driver or not?

Also is the printer noiser than you remember? if the printhead moves on a metal shaft -wipe and check if the cloth turns black -this would indicate metal dust. clean then regrease with the proper grease.

Will need more info but that's what I can think of on the top of my head
