Good morning everyone,
first of all a hello from my side. I am new to the forum. I am an electrical engineer working as a technical coordinator in two missionary schools in rural Tanzania. I have no special knowledge about printers even though I have disassembled some in my life mostly for getting parts for other electronic projects.
Thanks for having me here!
I have a question about a Canon imageRunner 2520 which has been troubling us for some time now, mostly with paper jams. It has been in repair for a few times (before my time), but it seems the problems were always just temporarily fixed. Also the repair center is a nine (!) hour off-rode ride away from our schools, which is costly and not so easy to arrange again and again.
Therefore I wanted to try a repair myself. After doing some research on the internet and here in the forum, I am not quite sure, what to do. On this forum I found a lot of mostly really old posts with alot of technical detail, which I am not to familiar with. In case I have missed a thread, that I should have a close look at, feel free, to point that out, instead of answering directly!
The paper jams mostly occur during double sided printing/coping. I think I figured out the Jam Codes with the help of the service manual. Most of the times it seems to be a 0107 or 0108, even though there are others in the list. I am not sure, what to do with this information now. Is there a chance to repair something, do I have to replace parts, is there nothing to do about it? I wanted to try to update the firmware of the printer, since that was recommended a few times, but I have no access to the Canon SST or UST and couldn't figure out, if I can even get them as a normal consumer...
If there is further information, that I can provide, please let me know.
Thanks very much in advance
Tim
