Good afternoon,
Thanks in advance for any advice given.
Hopefully I'm allowed to post this link for conext Canon iPF6100 stop on power on with Error: "Close Upper Cover" | PrinterKnowledge - Laser, 3D, Inkjet Printer Help Sadly the trail ends with no resolution.
My issue is exactly the same as this users post.
I came in today to swap out the printhead after getting a E161-403E error. It's been offline for a while and after some hours of research I was able to test replacing the printhead, all was well until today.
I powered on the printer and used the keys to get to the service menu, without realising (unlike before) the first screen that popped up was "Replace CPU". Accidentally, without thinking (brain fart) I pressed OK.
I then saw a message along the lines of "something IT" (apologies, I was panicking and didn't take note). After it finished doing it's thing I shut it down.
I then restarted it and tried the service menu again, but this time I was greeted with "Close Upper Cover". I'm now stuck as I cannot in anyway get out of this message. None of the buttons work and I have to pull the power to try again.
After hours of research and trying different methods, I'm still stuck. Here are the different methods I have tried.
- Downloaded and read most of the 268 page service manual, tried to figure out where the cover sensor is, if it's accessible or not (failed to find it)
- Removed the roller tray and tried booting up to see if I get a different message, same error "close upper cover".
- Plugged in via USB and tried the FUT, this can't work in the current state
- found and downloaded the L Printer Service tool, found that I was on v1.03, I was able to successfully update to v1.10 using the download/send mode but after a restart, same issue.
- I have already read that if replacing the CPU board or MC board it copies that data to the other PCB while it's swapped then copies back (this I don't know how to do). Is it possible to re-sync the data?
- Some say the main board will need replacing, is this true? Should I order a new board? Ebay has a few available "for parts".
I'm a bit stumped now, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
