[Misc] Canon D780 - need repair help please

I have a Canon D780 copier/printer/fax machine. The LCD display started fading some years ago, and now is completely off. I can not see what I am doing on the machine.
Machine still works well, apart from the LCD screen.

Also, one of the spring-loaded plastic hinges for the top has disintegrated. I can live with that, as I can not find a spare.

Anyone know how to repair the dead LCD, or why it slowly faded to nothing? Parts are not available as far as I can see on google, and used printers for salvage are impossible for me to find.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

BTW: this is a d700 series imageCLASS machine, part of the D780, D760 and D761 family. Parts are interchangeable as far as I can tell.

ooof, well this is a long shot, but if connected to the network you could try and setup canon's remote operation viewer and just control the copier from a computer but the copier is probably too old to support it.
Along this thread of thought is somehow using a pull scan program/fax driver to bypass the using the screen completely.

The LCD could have a poor connection to the circuit; clean/reseat the LCD connectors.

Unfortunately, odds are something just needs to be replaced and your best course of action is to just get another device.
