I think that error means your hdd is dead. You can try defragging the hdd (on the IR3300 this is done by turning off the copier and then turning it on again while holding 1 and 9 down, should be similar process on ir8500) and reloading firmware using sst as a temporary measure (this may not work), but you'll need to put a new hdd in. It's easiest to use the exact same model no hdd as the one you're replacing.
