    iR8500 Skewed / Jumping Images

On this Imagerunner 8500 the image is suddenly skewed.

Print from file, from glass, or from Service Mode Test Pages, and any drawer - all are skewed. The machine has not been moved recently or anything - it just all of the sudden happened.

Also, something I've noticed when printing from the glass. Let's say we run 1000 copies, at some point during the run, the image will shift. At first I thought maybe the paper was different sized but it's all the same. Feed rollers were recently replaced to make sure it wasn't a feed issue.

    Any ideas???

Try printing from the stack bypass to rule out the pre registration.
Also check the paper guides attached to the paper feed units...if the guide for the Right deck becomes dislodged not only does it skew paper fed from the right deck but the guide also interferes with the paper path from every other cassette and will jam and skew.

At registration, usally the clutch FH6-5013-020 starts to go bad and could cause skewing. The registation ass'y is what i would look at next, after checking out what oze mention.

Registration area can cause skewing, look for missing tension spring on registration roller. If one is missing, unequal pressure will cause paper to skew.
Have you opened the front door interlock while copying to verify that paper is skewing and not image skewing?

          re skewing

Points to registration clutch housing cracked and / or metal guide plate to right of reg rollers bent causing paper to catch slightly and twist just prior to registration.

Yep the guide plate gets bent....close the transport drawer and look at the guide plate from the right door side...also the plastic cover on the reg clutch anchors the clutch. They crack or break all the time
