What can be done to speed up the PS3 driver on a IRC3220 ?

    Hi again,

What could be done to speed up the PS3 driver on a IRC3220 ?? The PS3 driver has the best quality for graphics of the other 2 drivers (the UFR and the PCL) but its too slow and jobs just gather up and we need to work with other clients.

Also would a Fiery RIP be able to help me with this ? or the canon RIP that is added to the back of the printer ??

What price could I find this RIPs for ? or is this just a Harddrive and some drivers that I could add ??

Thanks for the help again guys

If it prints and does not have an external RIP then it already has the Canon Rip. A Fiery should speed you up a bit. As far as the cost I am guessing, but I would think it is in the area of $2,000.00 US.
Is the glass half full or half empty? I say neither. The glass is obviously full, full of potential. The potential to hold more water or the potential to quench a thirst. Life is all about how you see it.

      thanks..

      a bit much to pricey...

is there a way to add some RAM or something in that area to speed it up a bit ???

I JUST WROTE THIS AND IT TIMED ME OUT... TRY AGAIN. My understanding is there is an internal controller the print kit a2. It is designed for lower quality and 5 or fewer users, it is what it is. The external RIPs are the imagepass-C1, a piggy back unit for five or more people using primarily adobe and a higher print volume. The colorpass-Z3000 for light production and the graphics market. If you have an imagepass-c1 make sure you remove any unused connections. The C1 will constantly check all published connections and slow you down. Also make sure the HDD is cleaned of all unnecessary items such as inactive jobs. I donot think this unit is upgradeable. But as you probably know you get what you paid for performance=$$. I hope this helps.

the c1 can has as much ram as you want put in it (that you can justify) in stock form they come with only 128(rubbish) most of ours have 256 but i have found compatible 256 stick's and run two them to get 512 - howver it still ain't the fastest rip -but what apps are you running?the whole point about ufr was that it use's balanced processing bewteen pc & mfp - below

          Dramatically Faster Data Processing
          UFR / UFR II

Creating faster engines and realizing higher levels of print resolution requires print controllers with sophisticated CPU performance and large memory capacity, which leads to higher manufacturing costs. Canon developed its Ultra Fast Rendering (UFR) printing system to address this problem. The system achieves high-speed output at low cost by integrating multiple printing functions into a single chip and distributing print data processing to the user's PC.

SURF, the UFR rendering engine, employs a pipeline architecture that delivers improved processing speeds by dividing the execution of instructions into several stages and performing multiple stages in parallel.

Overview of UFR II Load-Balancing Function

Network digital MFPs and laser printers incorporate Canon's original UFR II, a page-description language (PDL) created for the company's printers. UFR II is a next-generation architecture that enables UFR IIbased legacy resources to coexist with UFR II, which incorporates a load-balancing capability for efficiently distributing data processing loads between the PC and the printer. UFR II achieves stable output and dramatically increases processing speeds to up to five times those achieved by conventional architecture.

again ufr wont help when people want ppd file but it's a cheap alternative....
