If you don't have a nethawk (special no longer produced Canon usb-to-parallel cable) use a computer with a parallel port. You will need an IEEE1284 bicentronics parallel cable (not just any old parallel cable) as you require two way communication. If you have an old scanner which uses a parallel cable that will probably be an IEEE1284 one.Comment

Hi you can use a cable supplied by Canon it is called a Nethawk cable, you will be required to install the driver which is included with the SST once you have done this you will then be able to upgrade firmware. The adaptor cables supplied by your normal computer supplier will not work.Comment

hi i have a nethawk driver.if you want i will send it to you.that's why when my boss gave me a laptop dell inspiro i still use my compact armada 500 a very old but reliable latop a little bit slower but i can used it in older ir series that require parallel port with no problem.there is no glory without sacrificeComment
