Hey am not a canon tech but do alot of them anyways. work with the c3200 and the c3220 color boxes. the 20 version is the "new + improved" version of the older 3200. have found that boxes are very similar but the firmware is updated, the 20's have "universal send" firmware and are set up for the newer network platforms. hope this helps jp

Main differences I could see are. IR3320i has better copy/scanning resolution 1200 x 600 dpi as opposed to 600 x 600 dpi. Also Intelligent Sending to Network protocols ftp, smb, ncp.
The two copiers also use different system software.
The machines are probably pretty similar, but there definitely are differences. They share some common parts and accessories. How much I don't know.
