    Canon IR 2020i

I was called out for a miss-feeding problem. Customer said paper would not leave the cassette(paper drawer). I asked if the problem was occuring on all trays (copier only has two pf drawers) and was told yes even by-pass tray. When I went out to copier I first inspected for possible obstructions could not see any. Did find a piece of plastic in the lower tray could not tell where it came from. The copier was running a long time after closing the front door. I tried making a copy after the Ready to Copy signal came up buy nothing happened; however when copier stopped the error light came on and the machine called for toner. Is the error light and the add toner light related. Does the add toner light mean no copies can be made till toner is added??? One thing I did notice is that both copy drawers had the paper set for 11x8.5 however the paper size slide was set for 8.5x11R. I know in Ricoh copiers this will cause a misfeed error is it true for Canon copiers as well??? What might be other causes for misfeeding???
    Thanks!!!

    You are correct sir ;-)

You are correct in your question about the add toner light, the copier will not make copies when this light is lit. The long running before this light came on is an attempt by the copier to load toner from the cartridge into the developer. The paper orientation in the drawers is crucial to the machine not jamming. LTR-R is letter sized paper, but takes longer to get through the paper path, and the machine will jam if the dial/slider in the drawer does not match what is loaded. That is what I repeatedly have to tell my customers.
