    iR 3300 problem

    Hi ,
I found 'e 602' code in the machine.
I removed the hard disk and conencted it to the laptop .
Generally , we after the hard disk is detected we find 4 extra drives in MYCOMPUTER .The computer shows a new device had fonud but it doesnt show any new drive volumes.
When I tried with symantec partition magic , I found 20 Gb of hard disk but it says "BAD".
How can I format this hard disk and load the software.
Also, for another hard disk , when I connect it to the laptop, it doesnt get detected. Can anyone help.

    Thanks.

e 602 is a hard disk error. The manual says Make sure the hdd is connected properly to the main controller. If this doesn't work try reinstalling system software. If this doesn't fix the problem Replace the hdd. If this doesn't fix the problem replace the main controller pcb

With the hdd in the machine try pressing 1 and 9 on startup. If this works you should see blocks on the screen. Once this is finished you should see download mode. Format the drive and reinstall system software. If this works the drive should work a little longer. It depends on which e602 you've got whether this has a chance of working. By the sounds of it your drive could already be dead.

You will need to get a new hdd and format it using SST (service support tool) unless you have a working hdd in another machine and manage to clone it. SST is best though.

Basically you either get a nethawk cable (special canon usb-to-parallel cable) or an IEEE1284 bicentronics parallel cable.

Get SST and IR3300 system software and follow the instructions in the SST manual for how to format the hdd.

Note, there are two different versions of firmware, one for ordinary copier and one for networked (if there is a N boot rom installed. The N boot rom is required if there is an ethernet board, so if you see a NIC on the right side of the copier it's networked).

If you press the counter check button you should see. IR3300(IR2200) or IR3300(IR2200N). If it says N it's networked. Alternatively go into service mode by pressing Additional Functions (has * on it) > 2 and 8 > Additional Functions (has * on it)

Then Copier > DISPLAY > VERSION > BOOT-ROM. This should let you know what it is.
