    Canon IR 2270 print problem

Have problem with printing on IR 2270.

When test page is sent to printer, nothing is print out.
When check job log, print job is there with NG result and error #853.
Find that #853 error is insufficient memory or that print job is canceled by print driver.

Tried all print drivers (PS, PCL, UFRII), also tried with USB and network connection but still same.

    Thanks in advance.

Error #853 (from the user manual)

Cause 1 When trying to print a large number of pages, the job is not performed due to insufficient memory resources.

Remedy Reduce the number of pages to print, or perform the print job again when no other jobs are
    reserved.

    Cause 2

The job could not be processed, because it was canceled from the printer driver while the
print data was being sent to the machine.
    Remedy Try printing again.

    Other things to consider.
The print kit is optional on the IR2270. I believe it includes extra memory as well as the boot rom so make sure you put it in if you installed a network print kit. Make sure Multi-PDL Print Kit E1 or Printer Kit E2 or UFR II Printer Kit E3 is installed. 230V model can use any of the 3. 120 V can use E1 or E3. 120 V comes standard with extra ram. It looks like E3 doesn't require extra ram from looking at SM.

    From the Service Manual:

Bootrom version is displayed in service mode under Copier > Display > Version > Bootrom. Need to have a N boot rom for UFRII/PS/PCL or P boot rom for just UFRII. Printer Kit E2 uses H Bootrom and can do UFRII or PCL.

See chapter 1 of the Service Manual for a diagram showing the location of these parts.

Copier > Display > ACC-STS > RAM will either indicate 256 MB RAM or 512 MB RAM. You want 512 MB.

    Copier > Display > ACC-STS > NETWARE should read 1 for installed.

There's probably other stuff I haven't thought of too.

I think newer models allow for UFRII printing as standard but not the IR2270.

I agree. Check whether the printer kit is installed. Hit the counter check button and look at the bottom hit device configuration, this will let you know whether its installed before trying to trouble shoot a network communiction error. Also chek service mode and check the bootrom.

It's annoying that in many cases in SMs canon doesn't bother to list in the possible causes of problems that such and such an accessory is not installed or firmware has not been upgraded so that such and such an accessory can be used. I guess you soon get used to it.

Problem is that machine has C bootrom.
But customer told that he print before on that machine.

Will offer him to buy print kit.

          Thanks a lot for help.

I thought that UFRII is standard option on this machine.
