Canon Image Class MF8180C Check Printer

Hello everyone, i have a canon Imageclass MF8180c that is saying Check Printer. It's not initializing nor rotating just saying check printer open and close cover. I have done so many times and the same thing happens.Can anyone shed some light on this issue or has anyone come across this problem? Please help.

try an all clear through the service mode! it will wipe out all info programmed in like fax #

Am not sure as to how to get into service mode on this machine.

Just a wild guess...

Have you tried a different cartridge in the machine? I had a customer pull the drum out of an iR1023, and the interlock finger on the drum got bent when they wedged the drum back in. Would not come ready till I bent the finger back so it could make the sensor.
