    Canon Ir 3045 / 4570

We have about 15+ Canon Image Runner 4570 & 3045 multifunction copiers in our office. For 3+ years the we have been using the universal send functioin with 98% success rate. What I mean by that is that sporadically we have to browse several times in the past to see our domain and to drill down to find the computer we wanted to connect to. No that being said for the past 3 months we have lost all browsing capabilities on all the copiers...(None of the copier's can browse the network to see the client machines). Nothing has changed on the network side that would prevent / limit the copiers from browsing the network. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For this to happen to all the copiers, it have to be network related. I would not focus so much on the machines. What should be done is connect a laptop to one of them and see if has a problem browsing. You might have to change some of the creditials but if all checks well while doing this you can then isolate where the communication problem is coming from.

I would check all of the switches in your network sounds like you may have a failed switch or check the cabling. It's definitely not the copiers for all of them to quit working. Good Luck

        Canon Image Runner IR3045 / IR4570

Thanks for all the information: I got several of the copiers up and going by making some changes to the settings on the copier. I have about 5 vlans on my network, and some of the ones on 2 different vlans started working. Could it be one of the canons broadcasting information confusing the other copiers...If I remember correctly in the past one Canon not configued correctly on a VLAN made the other copiers quit working. Far fetched I know, and really cant explain the reasoning behind it. Thanks for all your help

VLAN can cause some network issue if its not configured properly.
What can you do. Check out some modes how VLAN can be configured.
There are three different modes in which a VLAN can be configured. These modes are covered below:
          • VLAN Switching Mode - The VLAN forms a switching bridge in which frames are forwarded unmodified.
          • VLAN Translation Mode - VLAN translation mode is used when the frame tagging method is changed in the network path, or if the frame traverses from a VLAN group to a legacy or native interface which is not configured in a VLAN. When the packet is to pass into a native interface, the VLAN tag is removed so that the packet can properly enter the native interface.
          • VLAN Routing Mode - When a packet is routed from one VLAN to a different VLAN, you use VLAN routing mode. The packet is modified, usually by a router, which places its own MAC address as the source, and then changes the VLAN ID of the packet.
