Canon IR 8500 - How to get IP Address

Have a customer with a Canon IR-8500 with connectivity he wants to connect it. How do I get IP Address on the machine. And if someone can help with some kind of procedure. I suppose I can get the drivers from Canon.com.

    Additional functions>system settings>network settings>Ip address.
Two ways to find what IP scheme their running. Try turning on DHCP or do a IPCONFIG from one of there workstations from the command prompt.

DHCP would be located right beside where your gonna set up the IP address. You must reboot after putting the info.

    EXAMPLE:
    Ip address: 192.168.0.5
    Subnet: 255.255.255
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (This is optional)

Follow the procedure Screwtape outlined. Subnet mask has four numbers and would be e.g. 255.255.255.0

The IP address range is e.g. 192.168.0.X

The IP address for the copier must have the first three numbers matching what is used on the network. The last number (represented above by an X) can be any unused number from 0 to 255.

Also once you have got it working you can try pinging an IP address on the network from the copier and using RUI http://ipaddressofcopier from a computer.

Make sure that DHCP is turned off once it's working to ensure the IP address is static.

You can download print drivers from the canon website. See Canon U.S.A: Support

Use PCL5e not PCL6 if using PCL print drivers.

Setup the printer on their server. Go to Printers and Faxes, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a new TCP/IP port with the IP address of the copier, select have disk when prompted for printer drivers etc.
Check that the printer properties/preferences (can't remember which off the top of my head) recognise any installed accessories such as a paper deck. If not on one of the tabs should be get device status. Click it. Customize printer settings as necessary.

      Share the printer.

Your client can then add it on each machine from there or set up a script.

You should test that the printing works before leaving. If printing fails completely and you have entered everything correctly check to make sure that the networked firmware has been properly installed.

Under Service Mode there should be something like Copier > Display > Version > PS/PCL. Check to make sure that there is a number next to PS/PCL.

If it hasn't reinstall networked firmware using SST.

Other troubleshooting steps involve connecting to copier directly to laptop via crossover (need to temporarily change IP settings on copier, note down what they are so you can change it back) to see if it works that way. If it does then the problem could be a faulty ethernet cable, faulty/badly configured router/switch or something else on the network.

        IR-8500 Ip Address

The problem is that I go to Network Setting and what come out is the following:
        IP Address Range Settings:
        Reject IP Address
        Permit IP Address

Does not allow me to input IP Address.

        Waiting on your answer.

May be your looking at the communication settings instead of Network settings as told by Screwtape.

This is the procedure I did:

            * Additional Setting
            System Settings
            Network Setting
            TCP/IP Setting
And what come out after this is:
            IP Address Range Setting
            Reject IP Address
            Permit IP Address

            Thxs,

are you sure it is a network printer? under version in service mode the boot rom should have (n) behind it

If the bootrom of your machine is N then check your Interface -> Additional function then 2 & 8, Additional Funcion -> Copier, Option, Interface the value should be zero.

But if you are using a Fiery the Interface should be four (4).
