    Canon GP605 help

    I have 2 the Canon GP605.
    Copier 1 Available
    Copier 2 Not Available
I think harddisk copiers 2 may not be good.
Today, when the art open 1 minute Switch on / off will be back in position immediately off automatically.
    Questions is:-
1.Can I download firmware from the copier 1 and installed in the copier 2.
    2.If possible, How?
    Please tell me step-by-step.

    more info needed here...

The GP605 is basically the same copier that I work on, the iR600, as viewed from Google images. There is no hard drive mounted in the iR600 copier. There is however a hard drive mounted on the print servers that are placed into the copier to make them print. Is this the hard drive you are speaking of?

If it is, I don't know of any utility to image the hard drive on the working print server to image the non working one. I always accomplish this task by using PDL Downloader to load fresh coat of code to the drive after accomplishing the format from within the printer menu.

If I remember correctly, the iR600 used an internal Fiery controller, the Network Printer Board F1.

This controller is held in place by only 2 screws, so it's easy to take out.

Try swapping them around to see if that reverses the problem. That way you'll know if the problem is on the board.

You can then further troubleshoot by reversing the hard drives.

If you determine the problem to be the software on the drive, you'll most likely need to get the system software for the board.

I've tried several times to ghost from one drive to another using various utilities, but to no avail. (It's Linux on the drive.)

I think I've been unsuccessful because of the way that the image gets writen onto the drive.

      Good luck!

Are you saying the machine turns off automatically.
Or are you having trouble with the print server?

Yes, I sure the machine turns off automatically.

If the machine shuts off automatically then you have a power issue.
I'm a bit confuse on what kind of problem you have. If the machine shuts off I don't know how the printer board is related to a power issue.

Maybe an AC power issue, like the fuser or scan lamp?

I don't know this machine from a service standpoint, but I do know that Canon tends to supply the hot and switch the neutral.

I remember many years ago I had an NP8570 where the hot wire on the fuser had chaffed against the frame (just barely, of course...) and kept tripping the power switch.

Just throwing that one out there...
