Check the connectors for the fuser and duplex for scraps of paper. You need to check both sides of the connectors. On the bed and duplex and inside on the rear frame. It is common for little scraps to get lodged inside these connectors.

      I agree..
This message(reset unit 1) can be caused when the imageRUNNER is unable to see the Fixing / Feeding Frame assembly. You should check the connectors for the Fixing / Feeding Frame and also the wiring between the connectors on the rear frame and the DC Controller. This goes the same for (reset unit 2) only its the duplex unit that need to be check. Sometimes the pins can become damaged or paper can get lodged inside of the connectors. Also check the microswitch for the green handle. There a switch right around the transport belts. If the connectors, switch and the wiring are ok, the DC Controller may need to be replaced.

Always take a step back and see what you or previous tech did first. Was anything replaced lately? Possible someone didn't a plug a connector back into DC Controller? Maybe connectors on DC Controller need to be reseated. If not, paper scraps as mentioned before quite common and also switch for Green Handle. Also make sure your front door microswitch is working. If defective can think front door is open. Please post results.

First you had black copies, then the close door message after?
Wonder if a 24v line pinched. Check and review anything that was taken apart, check your connections, especially anything that was removed while troubleshooting the orig prob.

E225 refers to laser issues. That would explain the copy quality. But first recheck anything that was originally done, including the connectors pointed out by Screwtape.
