Canon LaserClass 2050 paper feed/jam problem

New to the forum but could not find another post on this subject.

I have a Canon LaserClass 2050 laser fax/copier that has a problem with the feeding of originals through the feeder. It can print incoming faxes with no problems and reports from the menu print properly.

The paper feed starts to pull the paper down as normal and just as the page gets to the scanne bar the paper stops being pulled into the ADF. The original itself has a mark on it the bottom center of the page like something was trying to pull it through only from the middle while the other sides were being held in place.

If I put the paper down a little further manually it does feed through until the paper gets to the end and doesn't seem to be ejected properly.

We have many of this style unit in use and everything looks fine - no damage / excessive wear. I did clean the area and the rollers but this had no change on the situation.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure if its the same setup but the L75 fax has an issue where a flag in the top portion of the ADF has a tab that breaks off and blocks the paper from advancing in to the scanner. It is directly next to the sep pad. I'm actually not sure what the part even does being that if you take it out the machine runs just fine.

      PoonKing,

Thanks for the reply. I gave it a try and that didn't have any effect on it. I applied some re-rubberizing agent and let is dry and it pulled through 2 pages then problem started again.

The rollers look fine but I guess they need to be replaced. I'm still not entirely certain.

More than likely you will need to replace the large black P/U Roller (which is probally leaving mark on rear side) and the Sep Pad Assy. that sits behind the Control Panel. While you are in there replacing the P/U Roller, check that 1. the black guide you remove to get to the Roller is being snapped in evenly, and 2. the holder that holds the shaft for the P/U Roller is actually keeping the shaft in place. Good luck.

          Canon L75/2050 ADF PM

I agree with CanonHPTech - when I service these units, I replace all of the rollers and the sep pad. Note that the sep roller looks similar to those used in the Laser Class 8000/8500/9000/9500 but its a few millimeters different somehow if I remember right.

Plus, when I PM these, I clean all the detrius off the flags and posts, all the places where the parts snap into the frame, and lube up all the gears, and clean the CIS off too. Make sure that sep pad assy is screwed in properly and not misaligned.

I had one of these that gave me a heck of a time at a bank - someone was messing with the paper thickness slider thing, thinking it was the VOLUME button, and eventually broke it so it would not accept anything!

Double-check what PoonKing mentioned. "HB1-2863-010 STOPPER, DOCUMENT" in the upper ADF assy. Look at it closely for the tiny hook breaking off the ass-end. Makes the part not sit properly & blocks feeding. You can start the original past it & it will feed intermittently.
