    DR-9080c scanner

Customer brought scanner into shop and says computer does not recognize scanner, They said they were hooking up computer to it but may have installed wrong connector into usb port on scanner. We use the same scanner inshop and when we connected there scanner nothing happens, pc dosent detect it. First time we have had a problem with one of these other than simple mechanical issues. How far off am i in thinking they blew the main board. Is there a way to test or do we just replace the board. thanks everyone

If the PC is not seeing the scanner via the interface, than you will not be able to run the service tool or flash the firmware. You could have a damaged USB port, which would still require you to pull the board to attempt to repair. Sounds like your customer jammed a firewire cable in the USB port. My advice would be to quote them the price of the main controller and see if you still even have to go any further. Good luck. Post results.

    B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)

Thanks CanonHPtech. I quoted the customer for main board replacement. I was stunned how much the board cost and what resale is. Thanks for responce.
