this machine codes out everytime you open the lower left door. is this a problem with the fuser itself, or is it a problem with the machine? thanx

If fixing/feeding unit closed sensor PS5 is dirty or has malfunctioned, or if MSW5 and MSW6 (fixing/feeding unit open/closed switches) are not actuating properly, it is possible an E004 will occur when the fixing drawer is pulled out. Otherwise try replacing the fixing unit.

I've had a few of these. I usually cleaned the sensor, but founs that usually it is the micro switches, where the lower door ties in. If you remove the left top door-the vert feed assembly, you will find the sensor and micro switches. Slide the fuser out a little. Often I would loosen the plate that the switches are on- try cleaning these, and slide the fuser assembly door in/out a few times. Often toner cakes this area above the fuser. This phenom usually triggers e 004. Watch the delivery sensor on the upper right side of the vert feed assembly when reassembling.
        Good luck!
